Advertise in the Sierran Newsletter

The Sierran

The Hoosier Chapter's award-winning newsletter, the Indiana Sierran, is now accepting advertising. The Sierran is either mailed or emailed to all members and other interested Hoosiers.

The print run for the summer edition was 6,300, most of which (5,836) were mailed to current members. The remaining newsletters were (or will be) available for distribution at public events. In addition, a digital (PDF) version of the newsletter is emailed by request to a list of 250 or more. Each newsletter is also posted online.

Our readers/members are Hoosiers with a commitment to and concern about the environment. Ads concerning products, appropriate services, and outdoor events & opportunities could be well-targeted to this audience.

E-Newsletter

In addition to the Sierran (print newsletter), we also communicate with our members and friends through periodic email newsletters. These too provides excellent and inexpensive advertising opportunities. Tiles and banners are available which can click-through to your web site or email address. Contact us for more information.

Ads in the Sierran

Available ad sizes are:

Half-page: 5 1/2" wide x 5" ($750)

Quarter-page: 2 3/4" x 5" ($385)

Eighth-page: 2 3/4" x 2 1/2" ($200)

We prefer that ad copy be camera-ready.

Deadline information:

For our Winter newsletter (expected to be mailed on or before December 1st),

copy should be received by October 30th.

Also:

Our newsletter is printed in one color (see sample).

Payment is expected upon acceptance of ad copy.

Payment by check, credit or debit card or PayPal is accepted.

A discount for running the same ad in multiple editions may be possible.

Ad Policy

Advertising will only be accepted if it is compatible with our mission, and not offensive to our members and readers.

The Indiana Sierran accepts straightforward product advertising but does not run most corporate image ads.

Ads showing off-road use of automobiles will not be accepted.

Bicycles must be shown either on roads or designated bike trails.

Ads may not be accepted from companies or organizations with egregious environmental records or from industries that are particularly problematic in terms of the environment.

Ads that include sexually provocative copy or graphics will not be accepted.

Ads that include mention of the Sierra Club or Indiana Sierran in their copy will not be accepted unless reviewed and approved by the Sierra Club in advance.

Ads for guns will not be accepted.

Ads for tobacco products or tobacco companies will not be accepted.

Political ads require prior approval by the Chapter Political Committee.

The Indiana Sierran reserves the right to accept or refuse advertisements based on the supplying source of the ad or the message contained in the advertisement.
