April 10, 2008 - 7:30 PM
The Dark Side of Indiana (and Beyond)
With over 3000 caves, Indiana is home to one of the United States' most extensive cave regions. At April's meeting, we'll be discussing how caves form, where they're found, and how we can help protect these unique and vulnerable environments. Although they might not be obvious on the surface, cave systems and the creatures that call them home are intimately connected to activities above ground. Come and learn about fragile cave environments close to home and far beyond, and how caves have been impacted by thousands of years human exploration and use. This program is presented by our very own Marianne Batchelder.
The meeting is at 7:30 pm in the Holliday Park Nature Center. Holliday Park is located at 6363 Springmill Road, Indianapolis. All Heartlands Group meetings are free and the public is welcome.
